Greetings from the Malaysian Zoological Society (Zoo Negara)
We are pleased to announce that we will be organizing an Ex situ Amphibian Husbandry workshop as a follow up to the one organized in January 2008 last year.
Since the declaration made by World Association of Zoos and Aquaria (WAZA) that 2008 be made the ‘Year of the frog’, various programmes, seminars and workshop were organized world wide to create awareness to the many threats face by the amphibian species around the world be it environmental, chemical, mechanical and even biological.
Zoo Negara with the help of AmphibianArk was among the first to take up the challenge after being endorsed by the South East Asian Zoo Association (SEAZA) to be its’ regional representative. The previous workshop covers the species prioritization and touch on the basic ex situ amphibian husbandry practice.
In this workshop, the emphasis would be to further advance our knowledge in the ex situ amphibian husbandry practices not forgetting also to update the information on the status of the amphibian species in the wild population here in Malaysia and regionally.
With that in mind we would like to invite you to join us for the workshop as well as to register for the post workshop ‘frogging’ expedition led by experts in the industry.
