Guanaco (Lama guanicoe)

No idea what Guanacos are? Come and see them up close at Zoo Negara!

Guanacos inhibit grassland of the South American continent and are a member of the camel family, closely related to the Llama. They can also live in dry areas and can even survive without drinking for long periods.

Physically, all camelids have long necks, highly mobile lips, pointed lips and wooly fur. Camels and Guanacos have almost similar diet, consisting of mostly grasses also leaves and buds.

Did you know that, adult guanacos can run at speed of up to 56km/hr?
